A tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Parsa village, under the Sursand police station area of Sitamarhi district, where a 9-year-old boy drowned in a pond. The deceased has been identified as Dinanath Kumar, son of Indrajeet Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 8, Parsa village.

According to information, Dinanath had gone to bathe in the village's Madan Pokhar (pond) with four or five of his friends. While bathing, his foot slipped, and he fell into the deep water. His friends, seeing Dinanath drowning, started shouting for help. Hearing their cries, villagers passing by immediately jumped into the pond and pulled the child out. He was rushed to the village for treatment, where a doctor declared him dead.

Local Mukhiya Rajesh Kumar alias Mantoo informed Station House Officer Lal Kishore Gupta about the incident. Upon receiving the information, Additional Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspectors Vinod Kumar and Motiur Rahman, along with police personnel, reached the spot. The police took the body into custody and sent it to Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. A UD (Unnatural Death) case has been registered based on the statement of the deceased's father, Indrajeet Kumar.

Mukhiya Rajesh Kumar alias Mantoo has also informed Circle Officer Satish Kumar about the incident and demanded government compensation for the grieving family. The Circle Officer stated that after the post-mortem report of the deceased child is received, a grant of Rs 4 lakh from disaster management will be provided to the dependents in the presence of Mukhiya Rajesh Kumar alias Mantoo. The entire village is in mourning following this unfortunate event.
