Kishanganj city witnessed a joint operation by the district administration and transport department against e-rickshaws operating without number plates. During this drive, several such e-rickshaws were seized from various parts of the city. The sudden action by the administration caused a stir among e-rickshaw drivers, with many abandoning their vehicles and fleeing.

The operation primarily targeted busy areas like Gandhi Chowk, Bhagat Toli, Day Market, and near the railway station. The proliferation of e-rickshaws without number plates in these areas was not only a violation of traffic rules but also raised significant safety concerns. Teams led by the District Transport Officer (DTO) and local police officials stopped and inspected these e-rickshaws, seizing those that lacked proper documentation.

Officials have clarified that this campaign will continue in the future. The primary objectives are to streamline traffic management, ensure road safety, and curb illegally operating vehicles. The transport department has urged all e-rickshaw drivers to register their vehicles and obtain valid number plates as soon as possible, warning of strict legal action against non-compliance. Seized vehicles are currently held at the police line, and the process of fining their owners will commence. This action is expected to increase awareness of traffic rules and improve order in the city.
