A tragic incident occurred in Babubarhi block of Madhubani district, where a 13-year-old boy was severely electrocuted after coming into contact with a high-tension wire. The incident took place on Tuesday while the boy was playing on the roof of his house. Unaware of the danger, he accidentally touched an 11,000-volt electricity wire, sustaining a severe electric shock.

The victim has been identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Ramnarayan Mukhia, a resident of Brahampur under Babubarhi police station area. Immediately after the incident, family members and locals rushed Rahul to a local hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment after receiving primary care. Doctors report that Rahul's condition remains serious, and he is currently undergoing treatment.

This incident once again highlights the negligence of the electricity department and the disregard for safety standards. The proximity of high-tension wires to residential areas poses a significant threat. Local residents have repeatedly appealed to the electricity department to remove these wires or implement appropriate safety measures, but their complaints have gone unheeded. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, resulting in fatalities or severe injuries. The local administration and electricity department must take serious note of this matter and implement concrete steps to prevent such occurrences in the future. High-tension wires passing over houses should either be relocated or properly insulated to ensure the safety of children and residents. The affected family has demanded compensation and proper treatment for Rahul from the administration.
