The Rural Development Department of the Bihar government has immediately suspended Anand Kumar Vibhuti, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bahadurpur, on charges of acquiring disproportionate assets. This action follows a report from the Economic Offence Unit (EOU), Bihar, Patna, which had initiated an investigation and registered an FIR against Vibhuti for unexpected wealth accumulation.

During raids conducted by the EOU, information emerged about assets worth approximately ₹1.71 crore, which are reportedly 121.87 percent higher than his known sources of income. However, the final conclusion of the matter will be clear only after the completion of the investigation and judicial process. The Rural Development Department issued the suspension order on October 27, citing the EOU's report dated October 14. The EOU had registered an FIR under Economic Offence Police Station Case No. 21/26 on October 7. The investigation is being conducted under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(B) of the amended provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

After obtaining search warrants from the court, the EOU conducted searches and raids at six locations, including Anand Kumar Vibhuti's residence, on October 8. During these operations, a house built at an estimated cost of ₹70 lakh in his ancestral village of Chiraiya in East Champaran district was discovered. Additionally, documents for 16 plots were found at his residence in Ahiapur, Muzaffarpur; nine of these plots are in his and his family's names, while seven are in the names of other individuals. The suspension aims to ensure an unobstructed investigation.

According to the departmental order, during the suspension period, Anand Kumar Vibhuti's headquarters will be at the Commissioner's Office, Tirhut Division, Muzaffarpur, and he will receive subsistence allowance as per rules. Anand Kumar Vibhuti was directly appointed as an officer in 2014 through the 53rd to 56th Combined Examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission.
