A notorious chain snatcher gang operating on the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama rail section has been busted, bringing relief to train passengers. In a joint operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), five members of the gang were arrested. This gang had been a significant nuisance for a long time, actively involved in snatching chains and mobile phones from passengers on trains and at stations.

According to police officials, stolen jewelry and several mobile phones were recovered from the arrested individuals, confirming their involvement in multiple incidents. The RPF and GRP had been receiving continuous complaints regarding chain snatching and mobile theft along the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama rail section. In response to these complaints, a special joint operation was launched. Acting on confidential information, the security agencies successfully apprehended the gang members.

The gang primarily targeted passengers, especially women, snatching chains from their necks and mobile phones from their hands while trains were in motion or at station platforms. These incidents had created an atmosphere of fear among travelers, deterring them from using the rail services. Police are currently interrogating the arrested suspects to identify other members of the gang and their wider network. Efforts are also underway to ascertain the total number of crimes committed and the channels through which the stolen goods were disposed of. This successful operation is expected to significantly enhance security along the rail section.
