Voting for the by-election on Patna's prominent Bankipur assembly constituency has concluded, recording a 34.30% voter turnout by 6 PM. The final figure might slightly increase as voters in line after 6 PM were allowed to cast their votes. The fate of 25 candidates, including BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha, RJD's Rekha Gupta, and Jan Suraaj Party's Prashant Kishor, is now sealed in the EVMs. The counting of votes is scheduled for August 3, following which the results will be declared.

This by-election was necessitated after BJP MLA Nitin Nabin resigned from his assembly membership. Rain in some parts of Patna in the morning impacted voter turnout, which remained sluggish even after the weather cleared in the afternoon. Bankipur is known for its historically low voter participation; the 2025 elections saw only 41% voting in this constituency.

Incidents of clashes were reported during the polling. In the Mithapur area, a dispute erupted between Jan Suraaj and BJP workers over alleged bogus voting. Later in the evening, a heated exchange occurred between workers of both parties at the AN College booth, where BJP accused Jan Suraaj of attempting to cast bogus votes. Union Minister and former JDU president Lalan Singh cast his vote at the Chakaram Primary School booth. RJD candidate Rekha Gupta claimed victory and accused the BJP of electoral malpractice. The BJP, in turn, filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the Jan Suraaj Party, a move Prashant Kishor sarcastically acknowledged.
