पूर्णिया जिले के बनमनखी रेलवे स्टेशन पर पहली ही जोरदार बारिश ने रेलवे के निर्माण कार्यों की पोल खोल दी है। स्टेशन के प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर एक पर बना यात्री शेड बुधवार को हुई बारिश के कारण क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया। शेड का एक बड़ा हिस्सा टूटकर नीचे गिर गया, जिससे यात्रियों में हड़कंप मच गया। गनीमत रही कि जिस वक्त यह घटना हुई, उस वक्त शेड के नीचे कोई यात्री मौजूद नहीं था, वरना बड़ा हादसा हो सकता था।
प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, बुधवार दोपहर बाद हुई तेज बारिश और हवाओं के कारण शेड का एक हिस्सा धड़ाम से नीचे आ गिरा। इससे प्लेटफार्म पर मलबा फैल गया। घटना के बाद स्टेशन पर मौजूद यात्रियों में भय का माहौल देखा गया। लोगों ने रेलवे प्रशासन की कार्यप्रणाली पर सवाल उठाते हुए कहा कि इतनी हल्की बारिश में ही अगर नव-निर्मित या मरम्मत किए गए शेड की यह हालत है, तो बरसात के पूरे मौसम में यात्रियों की सुरक्षा कैसे सुनिश्चित होगी।
यात्रियों ने बताया कि यह शेड हाल ही में मरम्मत किया गया था या नया बनाया गया था, लेकिन इसकी गुणवत्ता इतनी खराब है कि पहली ही बारिश झेल नहीं पाया। उन्होंने मांग की है कि रेलवे प्रशासन इस मामले की गंभीरता से जांच करे और दोषी ठेकेदार व संबंधित अधिकारियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई करे। साथ ही, जल्द से जल्द शेड की मरम्मत कराई जाए ताकि यात्रियों को धूप और बारिश से बचाव मिल सके। इस घटना ने रेलवे स्टेशनों पर बुनियादी ढांचे की गुणवत्ता और रखरखाव पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं, विशेषकर मॉनसून से पहले की तैयारियों को लेकर।
