The bodies of a young man and a woman were recovered from the Burhi Gandak River in the Navkothi police station area of Begusarai district on Thursday. Upon receiving information, the police retrieved both bodies from Tekanpura Ghat. The young man was identified as 22-year-old Roshan Kumar, a resident of Kewas Nizamat village in Samastipur's Mufassil police station area, based on an Aadhaar card found in his pocket. The woman was identified as 26-year-old Phoolwati Devi, who had tattoos of her own name and her husband Rudal Sahni's name on her hand. However, Phoolwati Devi's address and her relationship with Roshan are yet to be ascertained.

Roshan's father, Arjun Sah, stated that Roshan left home on October 5 around 10 AM, saying he would return immediately. He worked as a spice vendor, traveling from village to village. Before leaving, he received a call that seemed to change his demeanor. When Roshan did not return by noon, his family tried to contact him, but his phone was switched off. Unable to find him by 9 PM, Arjun Sah filed a missing person's report at Mufassil police station.

Arjun Sah further mentioned that on October 6, a girl called, claiming to have seen Roshan in Bibhutipur, Samastipur. Again, on the morning of October 7, the same girl called, stating Roshan was seen in Veersinghpur Kalyanpur on Darbhanga Road. Both times, the girl disconnected the call immediately after providing the location, leading the family to suspect deliberate misdirection. Five days later, Roshan and Phoolwati Devi's bodies were found in the Burhi Gandak River. Police are thoroughly investigating the case to determine the cause of death. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
