Two Road Accidents in Begusarai: Three Dead, Wrong-Side Truck Kills Two Electricians, Farmer Also Dies
Three people died in two separate road accidents in Bihar's Begusarai district on Monday. The first incident occurred around 3 PM on State Highway-55, near Jogiadih between Khamhar and Mohanpur. A speeding truck, allegedly driving on the wrong side, struck two motorcyclists, killing them both. The victims were identified as 44-year-old Ranjit Kumar Sharma, a resident of Panhas Vishahar Sthan under Lohia Nagar police station, and 42-year-old Chandan Kumar, a resident of Sarvodaya Nagar under Nagar police station. Ranjit was an experienced electrician, while Chandan had recently started working with solar panels; both were colleagues.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, coming from Manjhaul, veered into the wrong lane near Jogiadih and collided head-on with the motorcycle. The impact was so severe that Ranjit Kumar Sharma died instantly. Chandan Kumar sustained critical injuries, including a severed right leg, and succumbed to his wounds while being transported from Manjhaul Sub-Divisional Hospital to Sadar Hospital Begusarai. The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have seized the truck and motorcycle and are searching for the driver. The bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations, leaving both families in deep mourning.
The second accident took place on NH-31 near the Gas Agency Dhala in Sahebpur Kamal police station area. A speeding truck rear-ended a tractor carrying cauliflowers, causing 50-year-old farmer Shravan Rai to fall onto the road. He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. Shravan Rai, a resident of Dhabouli under Lakho police station, was on his way to Khagaria market to sell cauliflowers after receiving a low price in Begusarai market. His son, Roshan Kumar, who was driving the tractor, sustained minor injuries.
Morning walkers witnessed the accident and informed the police. Officers arrived, took custody of the body, and sent Roshan Kumar to the Community Health Center, Sahebpur Kamal, for treatment. The accident caused a significant traffic jam on the Begusarai-Khagaria route. Police used a JCB to clear the truck and tractor from the road, restoring traffic flow. Police Inspector-cum-SHO Rajesh Kumar stated that both vehicles have been seized, and further action will be taken upon receiving an application from the victim's family.
