The academic future of 152 tenth-grade girls studying at Project Kanya Uchch Vidyalaya in Belhar block, Banka district, is in jeopardy. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has issued dummy admit cards for the upcoming matriculation examination to all schools, but not a single student from this school has received one. An investigation revealed that the school management failed to register these 152 girls for the matriculation examination.

Upon learning of this serious negligence, angry students and parents staged a strong protest at the school premises on Friday. Parents and students stated that dummy admit cards had arrived at all other secondary schools in the block. When the girls from Project Kanya Uchch Vidyalaya went to collect their cards, they were informed that no cards had been issued for them. When confronted, the headmaster disclosed that the school's official registration (code) had been suspended by the education department since 2017.

The headmaster explained that despite the code's suspension in 2017, to protect the students' future, registrations and sent-up exams were conducted by tagging with other approved schools from 2018 to 2025. However, this arrangement could not be made for the current academic session. He clarified that all formalities to reinstate the school's old code have been completed, and the file is pending with the special secretary of the Bihar Education Department. He claimed the code would be reactivated soon, and students would be registered and have their forms filled without late fees.

However, parents allege that the negligence of the school management and the district education department has put the academic year of 152 innocent girls at risk. District Education Officer (DEO) Devendra Kumar Pandit stated that the headmaster was explicitly instructed not to admit new students due to the school's revoked code, but these instructions were disregarded. The DEO assured that a special letter has been sent to the department to reinstate the school's code, and the process is moving quickly at the headquarters level to ensure the girls are not deprived of their exams.
