The International Day of Older Persons was celebrated with enthusiasm at the local Buniyad Kendra in Belsand. The event saw the participation of numerous senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The program was inaugurated by Assistant Director of District Social Security Treasury, Lal Krishna Rai, District Manager Girish Mohan Sharan, and Center Manager Rajnish Sinha, who jointly lit the traditional lamp.

Assistant Director Lal Krishna Rai informed the attendees that the state government has established Buniyad Kendras in all sub-divisions of the state to facilitate older persons and persons with disabilities. These centers offer four types of free medical facilities, including physiotherapy for body pain, speech therapy, and treatment for eye and ear ailments. He further explained that physiotherapy is provided for pain in any part of the body, spectacles are given after free eye check-ups for those in need, and sugar levels are also checked.

Other facilities provided by the center include the distribution of walking sticks to needy older persons and tricycles to persons with disabilities. Furthermore, the Buniyad Kendra assists in availing all types of government pensions and other government scheme benefits. Information about the toll-free number 14567 was also shared with the attendees, allowing them to report instances of harassment of older persons and persons with disabilities by family members.
