The district administration in Bettiah has taken a firm stance to accelerate the construction of the four-lane road from Barwatsena to Pathrighat via GMCH. On Tuesday, the circle administration's bulldozers demolished illegal encroachments obstructing the road construction. Under this drive, approximately 60 illegal shops and houses built on both sides of the road between MJK College Gate and Santoshi Mata Temple were razed.

Circle Officer Pallavi Kumari, who led the operation, stated that these encroachments were the biggest hurdle in the widening and construction of this road. Revenue Officer Priyanka, along with a large contingent of police and other administrative staff, were present to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful operation.

Kumari also mentioned that prior notices were issued to all concerned encroachers before this action. Despite being reminded with a second notice after the deadline passed, the encroachers did not voluntarily remove their illegal structures. The administration was compelled to take this strict action after its warnings were ignored.

She issued a clear warning that the administration would not tolerate any obstruction to development projects. She added that if other encroachers do not remove their structures in time, the remaining constructions falling within the road's alignment will also be forcefully demolished.
