Bettiah: The historic and ancient Maa Kalibag Temple complex, established during the Bettiah Raj era, is set to transform from merely a center of faith into a major tourist destination for the district. The Municipal Corporation has initiated efforts towards this development.

Mayor Garima Devi Sikaria announced that plans are underway to develop the sprawling seven-acre land of the Kalibag Temple into a modern and grand tourist park. An official e-tender has been issued for the construction and beautification work under the AMRUT-2 scheme. The estimated cost for this ambitious project is ₹1 crore 66 lakh 54 thousand. The selected agency will be required to complete the construction within six months of receiving the work order.

Previously, the Municipal Corporation had constructed a strong boundary wall for the security of the land. Now, the focus will be on developing modern public amenities and natural beauty within the premises. The proposed plan includes decorating the seven-acre area with natural greenery and contemporary civic facilities. Dozens of species of shade-giving and ornamental trees and plants will be planted.

To cater to the health and entertainment of devotees and city residents, the park will feature an open gym, swings for children, and well-equipped pathways for walking. Additionally, basic facilities such as resting areas, modern street lights, drinking water provisions, public restrooms, an attractive ticket counter, and a guard room will be developed. The Mayor stated that this park will not only provide mental peace to the elderly and devotees but also prove to be an excellent destination for youth and children. The online tender process, with a deadline of September 10, has been initiated to ensure transparency in the project's execution.
