A 62-year-old man, Devendra Yadav, died from a snakebite in Bhramarapur village, Narayanpur block, Bhagalpur district, on Tuesday afternoon around 3 PM. Yadav, a resident of ward number 9 of Nagarpura Purab Panchayat, was the son of the late Bala Yadav.

According to his son, Mukesh Yadav, Devendra Yadav was placing books near an almirah at home when a snake bit his right-hand finger. His condition deteriorated rapidly after the bite. Family members immediately rushed him to the hospital, but he passed away on the way.

Upon receiving the information, Bhawanipur police arrived at the scene. On Wednesday, after completing the necessary legal formalities, the body was sent to Naugachhia Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Narayanpur Circle Officer Ashish Kumar confirmed the incident and stated that after the legal process is completed, action will be taken to provide compensation to the victim's family as per rules. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the village.
