Panic ensued at Barari Ghat in Bhagalpur on Tuesday when a woman suddenly jumped into the Ganga river, attempting to commit suicide. However, due to the alertness of local residents present at the ghat and the swift action of the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) team, the woman's life was saved. After being safely pulled out of the river, the woman was handed over to the Barari police station.

Eyewitnesses reported that the woman stood calmly at Barari Ghat for a long time in the morning, staring intently at the flow of the Ganga river. Her demeanor clearly indicated that she was in deep mental distress. Suddenly, she ran rapidly towards the river and jumped into the deep water. As soon as she jumped, people present at the ghat started shouting loudly and immediately began rescue efforts.

Upon receiving information about the incident, vigilant SDRF personnel stationed nearby promptly swung into action. A joint team of local residents and SDRF quickly rescued the woman from the deep water. Even after being safely brought out, the woman, in a disoriented state, kept saying, "I don't want to live anymore." She was seen crying and complaining about her son, suggesting a possible family dispute.

The woman has been identified as Budho Devi (husband - Dinesh Yadav), a resident of Bangaon Khutha in Bhagalpur district. Upon receiving information about the incident, Barari police arrived and safely brought the woman to the police station. Police officers provided her with refreshments and comforted her. Barari police stated that the woman is safe, and her family members have been informed and called to the station. After the family arrives, the full details of the incident and the reasons for the family dispute will be investigated, after which necessary legal and social procedures will be completed before handing the woman over to her family.
