Bhawanipur police in Purnia district have arrested two individuals in connection with two separate extortion cases. The arrests were made based on confidential information received by the police. One of the arrested individuals has been identified as Mohammad Mustafa, who was apprehended from Bhawanipur market. The second accused, Mohammad Mustakim, was arrested from Godiyar village within the police station's jurisdiction. Police are currently interrogating both individuals regarding their respective extortion cases.

According to police sources, Mohammad Mustafa is accused of demanding extortion money from a businessman in Bhawanipur market. The businessman had filed a complaint with the police, stating that he was receiving continuous threats over the phone and demands for money. Taking the matter seriously, the police acted swiftly and apprehended Mustafa based on a tip-off.

In the second case, Mohammad Mustakim is accused of extorting money from a person in Godiyar village. The victim had also lodged a complaint with the police. With the help of technical evidence and local informers, the police located Mustakim and arrested him. Both arrested individuals are undergoing intensive interrogation to identify any other persons involved in these cases. Police stated that continuous operations are being conducted to curb criminal activities in the area, and strict action will be taken against those involved in extortion. The arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody.
