Villagers in Dawan village, Jagdishpur block, Bhojpur district, staged a protest on Tuesday demanding the construction of a dilapidated road. Residents stated that the road has been broken for a long time, causing significant difficulties for people from dozens of villages, including school children, in their daily commute. Villagers have previously protested the poor road conditions by planting paddy on the road. They had also submitted applications to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), District Magistrate (DM), and Block Development Officer (BDO) seeking a resolution, but no permanent solution has been found yet.

The protest was chaired by RJD leader Santosh Mishra and conducted by youth RJD leader Arvind Yadav. Hridyanand Singh, Nayak Singh, Birbal Paswan, Panchayat Samiti member Krishna Rai, and Md. Salahuddin, among other villagers, also addressed the gathering. Speakers emphasized the critical importance of the Dawan road, which is used by a large number of villagers and school children. They highlighted that the problems intensify during the rainy season due to the poor road quality.

Villagers recalled that about ten years ago, Dawan village was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF), and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had visited the village at that time. Despite being declared an ideal panchayat, the road remains in a deplorable state. Villagers also raised concerns about the lack of other basic amenities. They warned that if the road construction does not begin soon, they will escalate their agitation with effigy burning and hunger strikes. Former MLA Bhai Dinesh also extended his support to the villagers' movement via phone and urged the Bhojpur DM to immediately investigate the dilapidated road and ensure its speedy construction.
