Bihar has launched a significant healthcare initiative called 'Jaanch Evam Upchaar – Chikitsa Aapke Dwar' (Investigation and Treatment – Healthcare at Your Doorstep), eliminating the need for people to visit hospitals for health check-ups. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated the campaign on Wednesday at Patna's Urja Auditorium, flagging off awareness chariots for all 38 districts of the state.

This three-month-long campaign will run from September 2 to November 30, 2026. Its primary objective is the early detection of non-communicable diseases, particularly focusing on three types of cancer (oral, breast, and cervical), diabetes, and hypertension, to reduce premature deaths caused by serious illnesses. ANMs and ASHA workers will conduct door-to-door health surveys and screenings. If symptoms or risks of any disease are found, patients will be referred to the relevant health center or larger hospital for further investigation and treatment.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Chaudhary stated that this campaign would be a milestone for the poor and common people, especially those in rural areas. Health Minister Nishant Kumar emphasized that the initiative aims to improve the health of Bihar's population. The government believes that early detection of these diseases allows for better treatment outcomes. The campaign also seeks to extend health check-up facilities to individuals who cannot access hospitals due to lack of awareness, economic constraints, or distance.
