Bihar cricket teams are finding their journey in the Elite Group challenging this season, consistently facing heavy defeats despite having earned their spot after strong performances in the Plate Group. In the Ranji Trophy, Bihar suffered a crushing innings and 267-run defeat against Uttar Pradesh, followed by a 10-wicket loss to Baroda. This disappointing trend extends beyond the senior men's team to the Colonel C.K. Nayudu (Under-23) and Women's Under-19 cricket teams.

In the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Under-23 tournament, Bihar was defeated by Goa by 174 runs at the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium and by Odisha by five wickets at Gandhi Stadium in Balangir. The Women's Under-19 team's performance has been particularly dismal. On October 9, in Mumbai, Bihar was bowled out for a mere 32 runs against Uttar Pradesh, with six batters failing to score. Subsequent matches saw losses against Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and Punjab.

However, there was a glimmer of hope in the Vinoo Mankad Under-19 Elite Group, where Bihar secured a 19-run victory against Haryana in a rain-affected match, thanks to Anmol's magnificent 184-run innings. Despite this, the team continued its losing streak against Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab.

This consistent poor showing in the Elite Group raises serious questions about Bihar cricket's administrative and technical preparedness. In the previous 2024-25 season, the team endured six humiliating defeats and finished at the bottom of the table. The current performance indicates a similar trajectory, potentially pushing the team back to the Plate Group. Upcoming matches against five-time champions Madhya Pradesh, three-time winners Vidarbha, and last season's champions Jammu and Kashmir will present formidable challenges for the team.
