Dengue cases have seen an increase across three districts in Bihar: Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, and Samastipur. A total of 34 dengue patients have been confirmed across these districts so far. Muzaffarpur accounts for 26 cases this year, Samastipur has reported 6 cases since August, and Begusarai has identified 2 patients. Fortunately, most of these patients have recovered after treatment, and none have required hospitalization to date.

In response to the rising numbers, the health department has taken proactive measures. Dedicated dengue wards and a total of 25 beds have been reserved in government hospitals across these districts. Additionally, fogging and anti-larval spraying campaigns are underway in affected areas to control mosquito breeding.

In Muzaffarpur, 26 cases have been reported this year, with two new cases confirmed at SKMCH on Friday. These patients, from Bochaha and Motihari, presented with fever and body aches. District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar confirmed the cases. A five-bed dengue ward, equipped with mosquito nets, has been prepared at Sadar Hospital. Musahari block has reported the highest number of cases, with 14 patients.

Begusarai has confirmed two dengue cases in Nagdah and Bhardwaj Nagar within the municipal corporation area following ELISA tests. Following these discoveries, DM Richi Pandey has ordered fogging and anti-larval spraying across all urban and rural areas. Sadar Hospital has reserved 10 beds, subdivisional hospitals have five beds each, and PHCs have two beds each for dengue patients.

Samastipur has recorded six positive cases since August, all of whom have recovered after treatment. Sadar Hospital has a 10-bed dengue ward staffed by doctors and personnel around the clock. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Girish Kumar stated that the ward is equipped with medicines and mosquito nets. Dengue in-charge Dr. Subhash Ranjan Jha advised residents to prevent stagnant water accumulation, as the Aedes mosquito, which transmits dengue, bites during the day and breeds in clean, standing water.
