Late September rains have once again brought challenges to several parts of India. A red alert has been issued for Uttarakhand, while Bihar and Odisha face the threat of floods. Schools have been closed in many states as a precautionary measure.

The deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal is causing continuous heavy rainfall across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar. This weather pattern has led to rivers overflowing, roads being blocked, and residents in low-lying areas being advised to move to safer locations.

According to the Meteorological Department, this deep depression is moving in a north-westerly direction and is expected to reach eastern Madhya Pradesh and surrounding areas by the afternoon of September 26. Subsequently, the remaining low-pressure area of the system will move towards Uttar Pradesh, increasing the likelihood of rain in Eastern UP, Bihar, and Western UP.

Authorities have urged people living near rivers and in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. Relief and rescue teams have also been put on high alert due to continuous rainfall and rising water levels. While specific districts in Bihar where schools will be closed are not yet detailed, the administration is on alert given the potential flood threat.
