The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has commenced the application process for regular appointments to the posts of Food Safety Officer (FSO). A total of 105 vacancies will be filled under this recruitment drive. The application process began on September 25, 2026, and candidates can apply until October 24, 2026. The last date for submitting applications and fees is also October 24, 2026.

This recruitment falls under the Bihar Food Safety Service, part of the Health Department of the Government of Bihar. The vacancies include positions for various reserved categories, with a 35 percent horizontal reservation provision for women who are original residents of Bihar.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess a Graduate, Master's, or Doctorate degree from a recognized university in relevant subjects such as Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Medicine. Degrees in specialized fields like Food Engineering, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Technology and Management, Food Biotechnology, Food Safety and Quality Management are also acceptable. Candidates are advised to verify their degree's recognition against the official advertisement before applying.

Age Limit

The minimum age for candidates is 21 years, calculated as of August 1, 2026. The maximum age limit is 37 years for unreserved male candidates, 40 years for unreserved female candidates, 40 years for male and female candidates from Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class, and 42 years for male and female candidates from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe.

Application Fee and Selection Process

The online application fee is ₹100, payable via debit card, credit card, internet banking, or UPI. Selection will be based on a Computer Based Written Examination comprising 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks, with a duration of two hours. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.
