The Bihar government has decided to revive the closed sugar mills in Rayam, Darbhanga district, and Sakri, Madhubani district. This significant proposal was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in Patna yesterday. Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary informed the press about the cabinet's decisions, stating that this move is expected to boost employment and economic activity in these regions.

In another key decision, the cabinet also approved the Bihar Sports Policy, 2026. This policy aims to promote sports in the state and nurture young talent. Furthermore, schemes worth over 97 crore rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana for the financial year 2026-27 were sanctioned, which will expand irrigation facilities in the agricultural sector.

For urban development, more than 53 crore 71 lakh rupees have been approved for the Kishanganj Water Supply Project and over one billion fifty crore 96 lakh rupees for the Lakhisarai Water Supply Project under the second phase of the AMRUT scheme. These projects will address water scarcity and provide clean drinking water to residents in the respective cities. The cabinet also resolved to establish permanent vermicompost, cow dung biogas, and commercial vermicompost units in all districts of the state, strengthening environmental protection and the rural economy.
