A multi-crore bridge built over the Patro River to connect Bengabad in Jharkhand's Giridih district with Chakai in Bihar remains incomplete and unusable due to the lack of an approach road. Despite its construction being finished several years ago, the absence of a proper connecting path has rendered it useless.

The bridge, constructed through the efforts of former Gandey MLA and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, was intended to establish direct connectivity and ease travel between Jharkhand and Bihar. However, the lack of an approach road, stretching over a kilometer from Badwara Chowk to the bridge, means it serves no practical purpose for the residents of the border area of Badwara in Bengabad block.

Local residents express their frustration, stating they have been waiting for the road's construction for years without any concrete action from the REO department. Raghunandan Kumar Kushwaha, the Mukhiya representative of Badwara Panchayat, explained that the approach path was not included during the construction of the Pardih-Badwara road, leaving the project in limbo.

Kushwaha highlighted that the road on the Chakai police station side up to the Patro River has already been paved. If the approach path were built on the Jharkhand side, it would create a smooth and convenient shortcut for inter-state travel. He also mentioned that another road construction project, from Chauntatand Chowk to Lachhuadih-Sahiyari Path within the panchayat, has also been overlooked by the REO department.

Villagers are urging the concerned department and district administration to promptly approve and construct both roads. They warn that without the approach road, the crores spent on the bridge will be wasted. They hope the administration will soon complete this long-pending project.
