PATNA: A controversy erupted on Wednesday over alleged sex trafficking accusations linked to a nurse who secured a job at the Bihar government's 'Mega Job Fair'. However, the concerned nurse, Pooja Kumari, clarified that she made no such allegations and that the video circulating is fake. The dispute began after a video surfaced showing a woman, identified as Pooja Kumari, claiming she was forced into prostitution in Delhi under the guise of a job.

Following the video's release, Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and RJD working president, criticized the BJP-led NDA government. He alleged that private companies are being allowed to participate in government job fairs without proper background verification. Pooja Kumari had received an appointment letter for a nursing job in Delhi at the 'Mega Job Fair' held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna in August 2026. The viral video claimed that upon reaching Delhi, she was confined to a room instead of an hospital and pressured into illegal activities.

Notably, on August 24, at the conclusion of the five-day 'Mega Job Fair' at Gyan Bhawan, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary distributed appointment letters to selected candidates from various recruiting companies.

However, Pooja Kumari stated, "I have not made any such allegations. My statements have been distorted and presented out of context, which is far from the truth. I had complained about the company I got a job with making me work beyond the stipulated hours and the unsatisfactory living arrangements, not about any kind of sexual exploitation."

Bihar's Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development immediately refuted the allegations. The department issued a press release stating that it took cognizance of the news published in digital media, investigated the matter, and contacted the concerned woman. According to the department, the woman, in a signed written statement in the presence of her husband, said that the video presented her statements out of context. She clarified that she had only complained about excessively difficult working hours and unsatisfactory accommodation during her job in Delhi.
