Patna: Students staged a massive protest march in Patna on Tuesday, demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th examination and the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) recruitment examination for 1,799 sub-inspector posts. The protestors alleged widespread irregularities in both examinations.

The protest march, which began from Gandhi Maidan, was heading towards the Chief Minister's residence but was intercepted by the police at JP Golambar. Despite the rain, some protestors, carrying the national flag, broke through police barricades and attempted to bypass security to proceed via alternative routes. Several protestors were subsequently detained by the police. Some students tried to block railway tracks, while others continued to advance towards the Assembly and the Chief Minister's residence.

Police officials stated that the entry of protestors into restricted areas disrupted law and order, hindered essential services like ambulances, and temporarily inconvenienced school children.

Speaking on behalf of the protestors, one student reiterated their demands, saying, "Our primary demand is the immediate cancellation of the BPSC 70th and BPSSC Daroga recruitment examinations due to extensive irregularities." They also called for the abolition of the contractual system in BPSC examinations, specifically the 25 percent weightage rule, and demanded that all recruitment exams be conducted regularly and transparently.
