The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has once again extended the online application deadline for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026. Aspiring candidates can now apply until September 22, 2026. Previously, the deadline was set for September 15, 2026. The Bihar Board issued a notification regarding this extension on its official X handle.

The application process commenced on August 17, 2026, with an initial deadline of August 31. This was first extended to September 15 following requests from candidates, and now it has been further extended for a second time to September 22. STET is a crucial eligibility test for individuals aspiring to become teachers in government secondary and higher secondary schools in Bihar.

Paper-1 is for teacher eligibility for classes 9-10, while Paper-2 is for classes 11-12. The BSEB STET 2026 examination is likely to begin in the first week of November 2026, conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam will consist of 150 questions totaling 150 marks, with a duration of 150 minutes.

Passing marks for STET vary by category: 50% for the General category, 45.50% for Backward Class, 42.50% for Extremely Backward Class, and 40% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates. Successful candidates will be eligible to participate in future recruitment processes, such as BPSC TRE. Eligibility criteria include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the relevant subject along with teacher training qualifications like B.Ed.
