The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued a new advertisement for the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0). This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 32,388 vacant teacher positions, covering classes 1 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 10, and 11 to 12. Online applications will commence on September 25, 2026, and conclude on October 26, 2026.

The previous advertisement, released on August 18, 2026, was cancelled, and fresh applications are now being invited. The commission has clarified that no applications will be accepted after the deadline. The highest number of posts are for higher secondary (classes 11-12). Although the Bihar government had promised to recruit a total of 45,000 teachers in TRE-4.0, including 7,000 special educators, the current advertisement mentions 32,388 posts. There is a possibility of additional posts being added in the future.

To apply, candidates must possess a graduate degree from a recognized university, a teacher training degree such as B.Ed or D.El.Ed, and must have cleared CTET, BTET, or STET for the relevant level. The age limit for general male candidates is a maximum of 37 years, for general female candidates 40 years, for BC/EBC 40 years, for SC/ST 42 years, and for persons with disabilities up to 47 years.

Significant changes have been made to the exam pattern this time. The TRE-4.0 examination will now be conducted in two phases: a preliminary examination (150 questions, 150 marks, 2 hours) and a main examination (150 questions, 150 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes). Another major change is the introduction of negative marking, where one-fourth of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Additionally, a fifth option 'E' has been included in the objective examination.

Previously, the application process was scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026, but it was postponed due to procedural changes and protests from candidates. Aspirants had opposed the changes in the exam pattern and the introduction of negative marking. As per the new schedule, the last date for submitting the application fee is October 25, 2026. While the BPSC calendar indicated the exam would be held between September 22 and 27, 2026, delays in the application process may lead to a postponement of exam dates. Results are expected to be declared in November 2026. Candidates are advised to thoroughly read the advertisement and apply in a timely manner without waiting for the last date.
