Bihar's fourth phase of teacher recruitment (TRE-4) is set to see an increase in the number of posts and the addition of a new subject. The state government plans to introduce agriculture and horticulture studies in government schools, leading to the appointment of dedicated agriculture teachers. The Education Department is preparing to send a supplementary requisition to the BPSC to include these new vacancies in the ongoing recruitment process for 33,320 posts.

Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari is actively pushing this initiative. The department's officials have advanced the proposal to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, and approval is anticipated in the cabinet meeting scheduled for October 28. Once cleared by the cabinet, roster clearance will be obtained from the General Administration Department, and the requisition will be forwarded to the BPSC.

Under this plan, agriculture and horticulture will be taught in 76 government schools across Bihar, with two schools in each district offering the subject. This is expected to create 76 new teaching positions for agriculture. Post-graduate candidates in the agricultural field will be eligible to apply for these posts.

This will be the fourth time a requisition is sent for BPSC TRE-4.0 recruitment. Previously, the number of posts was revised in three stages, bringing the total to 33,388. The online application deadline for TRE-4.0 is October 26, 2026. The supplementary requisition is likely to extend the application period, offering new candidates an opportunity to apply and allowing existing applicants to correct errors. However, this extension may prolong the waiting period for teacher recruitment aspirants.
