Bihpur: Engineers Inspect Pontoon Bridge at Trimuhan Ghat for Extension
Bihpur. The pontoon bridge over the Kosi River near Trimuhan Ghat is currently closed due to severe erosion, which has widened the riverbanks. The existing bridge is now approximately 150 feet too short, causing significant difficulties for farmers and residents commuting to and from the Diara region.
Responding to the issue, Bihar's Road Construction Minister, Engineer Shailendra, held discussions on Friday with Dharmendra Kumar, Chairman of the State Bridge Corporation, and other departmental officials. The minister instructed them to extend the length of the pontoon bridge on both sides of the ghat to facilitate easier movement for farmers and the general public.
Following the minister's directive, a team of technical officers led by a senior project engineer from the Road Construction Department visited Trimuhan Ghat on Friday afternoon. They thoroughly inspected the pontoon bridge's condition. Farmers and local villagers were also present, voicing their concerns to the officials.
After the inspection, the department assured that the pontoon bridge would be extended and reopened within seven days. This initiative is expected to bring much-needed relief to thousands of people in the Diara region who rely on this bridge for their daily commute and agricultural activities.
