Ravindra Nath Upadhyay alias Buchcha Upadhyay (55), a Congress leader and former head of Banarpur Panchayat, resident of Khilafatpur in Buxar district's Chausa block, tragically passed away on Thursday afternoon in a road accident. His demise has been mourned by Congress workers, social organizations, and local residents.

According to information, Buchcha Upadhyay was returning to his village Khilafatpur from Buxar on his motorcycle on Thursday afternoon. Suddenly, a nilgai (blue bull) appeared in front of his vehicle, causing the bike to collide with the animal. He sustained serious injuries in the severe accident. Local residents immediately rushed him to Sadar Hospital, Buxar, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Muffassil police reached Sadar Hospital, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Ravindra Upadhyay, aged around 55, had been associated with the Congress party for a long time, holding various important responsibilities at block and district levels. In 2008, he served as the head of Banarpur Panchayat for about two and a half months in a by-election.

In the 2022 Chausa Nagar Panchayat elections, when the seat was reserved for women, he fielded his wife, who secured approximately two thousand votes and finished fourth. Buchcha Upadhyay was also known as an active social worker in the district, actively participating in social activities and organizing sports programs for children.

Former Sadar MLA Sanjay Tiwari alias Munna Tiwari described his death as an irreparable loss and expressed condolences. Congress District President Pankaj Upadhyay stated that Buchcha Upadhyay was a dedicated and diligent party worker, and his passing is a great loss for the Congress family. He extended deep condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
