Workers of the CPI(ML) held a vigorous protest at the Bihta block headquarters in Patna district on Wednesday, pressing for various public welfare demands. The demonstration, led by CPI(ML) block secretary Umesh Singh, saw the participation of numerous party workers and local villagers. Key demands of the protesters included providing housing for all impoverished families, ensuring employment under MNREGA, and guaranteeing benefits from social security schemes, including old-age pensions.

Umesh Singh, addressing the gathering, accused the current government of neglecting the interests of the poor and laborers. He alleged widespread corruption within the MNREGA scheme, which he claimed was depriving deserving individuals of employment. Singh demanded that the government bring transparency to MNREGA and ensure at least 200 days of work annually for all job cardholders. Furthermore, he called for land deeds for all landless individuals and housing for all eligible beneficiaries overlooked by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The protesters also voiced concerns over rising unemployment and inflation in the Bihta block. They highlighted the lack of employment opportunities for youth, leading to widespread disillusionment. The CPI(ML) urged the government to take concrete steps for job creation and implement effective policies to control inflation. Following the demonstration, a CPI(ML) delegation submitted a memorandum outlining their demands to the Block Development Officer. They warned that if their demands were not addressed promptly, the party would be compelled to escalate their agitation. The protest aimed to highlight local issues and exert pressure on the government.
