The CPI(ML) Liberation held a protest in Sherghati on Monday, demanding land for landless families and a halt to bulldozer actions against the poor without alternative arrangements. Following the demonstration, a party delegation submitted a 13-point memorandum to the Circle Officer and Block Development Officer.

The memorandum called for the provision of five dismil residential land deeds (parcha) to all landless poor families and guaranteed housing. Party leaders emphasized that poor families residing on land for years should be granted land deeds for the same plots. They also demanded an immediate stop to the demolition of any poor family's home without providing alternative accommodation.

CPI(ML) also sought an increase in financial assistance to five lakh rupees for house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the removal of the mandatory land document requirement for housing. The party demanded the re-addition of names removed from ration cards, the issuance of new ration cards, and an immediate cessation of the process of removing names.

During the protest, demands were also made to increase social security pensions for the elderly, differently-abled, and widows to three thousand rupees per month. Ensuring year-round employment in rural areas and raising daily wages to 700 rupees were also key demands. The party also advocated for social security and guaranteed safe employment for migrant workers.

Other demands included withdrawing the decision to impose holding tax in rural areas, halting the privatization of education and health, reactivating defunct 'Nal-Jal' schemes, and ensuring land possession for deed holders. A large number of party workers and local residents participated in the protest alongside CPI(ML) leaders.
