To alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the western part of Patna, the Danapur Cantt-Maner-Bihta road is set to be widened. Currently around 7 meters wide, the road will be expanded to 10 meters under a project estimated at ₹82 crore. The Road Construction Department aims to complete the work within 1.5 years. The project is currently in the tender phase, with work expected to commence next month.

A key benefit of this project is the integration of the Danapur-Bihta road with the under-construction Sherpur-Dighwara six-lane Ganga Bridge. This connection is anticipated to significantly ease travel between North and South Bihar. Both projects are planned for simultaneous completion. Construction of the Sherpur-Dighwara bridge is progressing rapidly, with approximately 70% of the work already finished. This bridge is a crucial component of the Patna Ring Road project.

The widened road is expected to reduce traffic pressure in Danapur Cantt, Maner, Bihta, and surrounding residential areas, mitigating congestion. Commuting to and from Danapur station will become more convenient, and travel time between Danapur and Bihta will decrease, leading to fuel savings.

Improved road connectivity is also projected to boost industrial and commercial activities in the Bihta and Maner regions. Furthermore, heavy and light vehicles coming from Saran, Chhapra, and North Bihar will be able to access the Danapur-Bihta Road directly via the Sherpur-Dighwara bridge, allowing them to proceed towards Bihta and further to Ara-Buxar without entering Patna city. This will help reduce vehicular load on Patna's urban roads.
