A comprehensive campaign for TB eradication is underway in Darbhanga, with the ambitious goal of declaring 54 panchayats in the district TB-free by August 15. A district-level nutrition kit (food basket) distribution program was held on Monday at the Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Auditorium, located in the Collectorate, chaired by District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar.

During the event, nutrition kits were distributed to identified TB patients. The District Magistrate stated that along with better treatment for TB patients, special attention is also being given to their nutrition to ensure they receive a nutritious diet. The Red Cross Society provided 100 food baskets, which were distributed. He also informed that with the cooperation of various social organizations, NGOs, and banks, a larger number of nutrition kits will be made available and distributed to patients in the future.

A screening campaign is also being conducted in the district to identify TB cases. So far, approximately 2 lakh people have been screened, leading to the identification of 13,000 TB patients. All these patients are currently undergoing treatment. The government's nutritional assistance for TB patients is being sent directly to their bank accounts. Funds have already been transferred to the accounts of 5,400 patients, and the process for sending funds to the remaining eligible patients is ongoing.

The program was attended by Assistant Collector Kalpana Rawat, Civil Surgeon Dr. Arun Kumar, NCDO Satyendra Prasad, DPM (Health) Prabhat Kumar Raju, DCM Ravi Kumar, doctors and representatives from the Red Cross Society, and other officials from the health department.
