Darbhanga, Gaura Bauram: A two-year-old girl tragically drowned in a river in Nararkatia village, under the Kiratpur circle of Gaura Bauram block, on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Asha Kumari, daughter of Manoj Mukhia, a resident of Ward 7, Nararkatia.

According to reports, Asha was playing near her home and accidentally fell into the river flowing approximately 15 feet away. Asha's father, Manoj Mukhia, resides abroad. Jamalpur Station House Officer (SHO) Mukesh Kumar confirmed the incident, stating that the child's body is being sent to DMCH for post-mortem examination.

In other incidents, on Friday, police apprehended a motorcyclist named Kishan Kumar during a vehicle check on the Kosi embankment within the Jamalpur police station area. Two bottles of beer were recovered from his bike's storage compartment. Police stated that Kishan, a resident of Bheja, was traveling with his wife to Shahpur to attend a cremation. Dial 112 officer Vijay Kumar Mishra confirmed the incident and said that the driver is being interrogated.

Furthermore, a brawl erupted between two groups just a hundred yards from the Jamalpur police station, leaving half a dozen people injured. The injured, including Kailash Mahto, Pradeep Mahto, Laxman Mahto, and Shravan Mahto, have been admitted to a local health center for treatment. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a mobile phone theft. Jamalpur police are investigating the matter.
