The 'Mashal' program has commenced registration in government schools with the aim of nurturing sports talent. This initiative, launched in the Jale block of Darbhanga district, seeks to unearth hidden sporting potential in rural areas and provide a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities.

Registration for the program began on September 25 and will continue until October 25. Students can participate in various competitions including Kabaddi, Football, Cycling, Long Jump, and 100-meter and 800-meter races. Beyond physical development, these activities aim to instill discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among children.

Vikramaditya Jha and Kumar Raghav, teachers at a middle school, explained that the competitions will be organized in phases. Initially, contests will be held at the school level. Top performers and winning teams will then proceed to compete at the Cluster Resource Centre (CRC) level. Successful participants from there will get the opportunity to showcase their talent at the Block Resource Centre (BRC) level.

According to the teachers, this initiative will encourage children to excel in sports alongside their studies. The phased competitions from school to block level will facilitate the identification of talented athletes and foster leadership skills and collective play among children. The 'Mashal' program is seen as a significant opportunity for students in rural areas who often lack the resources and platforms to display their sporting prowess.
