A shocking incident has come to light in Rohtas district, Bihar, where Vimal Kumar, the Executive Officer (EO) of Dehri-Dalmianagar Nagar Parishad, was brutally beaten to death. The incident occurred late Saturday night when Kumar was returning to his home in Patna from Dehri. Police have swiftly acted, arresting the deceased's driver, Mithilesh Kumar, whose role in the incident is considered suspicious.

According to information, Vimal Kumar was traveling from Dehri to Patna late Saturday night. Near Dhanauti Bridge in the Barun police station area of Aurangabad district, assailants reportedly stopped his car, pulled him out, and brutally assaulted him. He sustained severe injuries and marks from sharp weapons. In critical condition, he was rushed to Narayan Medical College Hospital in Jamuhar, where doctors declared him dead.

Initially, there were suspicions of a gunshot wound, but Civil Surgeon Dr. Maniraj Ranjan stated that the actual cause of death would only be clear after the post-mortem report. Rohtas District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Mishra confirmed that an inquest and post-mortem of the body have been conducted. The Aurangabad and Rohtas police are jointly investigating the case, thoroughly examining all aspects.

During the investigation, the police found the driver, Mithilesh Kumar's role suspicious, as he was unharmed despite being present at the scene of the attack that killed Vimal Kumar. Based on this, Aurangabad police arrested him. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed his involvement, stating that further action will be taken based on interrogation, post-mortem report, forensic evidence, and other technical investigations.

In protest of this incident, the Bihar Nagar Seva Sangh has announced an indefinite strike by Nagar Parishad Executive Officers across the state starting August 2. The Sangh's General Secretary, Arvind Kumar Singh, stated that the strike would continue until the government provides written assurances for the arrest of the murderers, trial in a fast-track court, adequate compensation for the deceased's dependents, a government job for one family member, and bodyguard and residential security for all Nagar Parishad Executive Officers. Vimal Kumar was a resident of Sherghati in Gaya district, and his family includes his wife, a daughter, and a young son.
