Traffic has been completely disrupted on the Khaira Mor-Bamdev road in Rajoun block after a diversion built near an under-construction bridge over the Katariya River washed away on Friday due to heavy rainfall. This incident has blocked the route from Khaira Mor, through Nawada Bazar, towards Dhoraiya.

According to local residents, continuous rainfall for the past three days led to a significant increase in the water level of the Katariya River. The water began flowing over the diversion, and the strong current caused a section of it to break off and be carried away.

With the diversion damaged, villagers now have to travel an additional 12 to 15 kilometers for a journey that was previously only about five kilometers. This not only wastes their time but also increases travel expenses. Students, patients, and daily commuters are facing considerable difficulties.

Residents have alleged that the contractor did not construct the diversion at an adequate height, claiming that even slight rainfall causes water to flow over it and damage it. Water accumulation also poses problems for motorcyclists, with several accidents reported previously when crossing the water. Villagers have urged the administration to promptly reconstruct a strong and elevated diversion to restore the route.
