E-Rickshaw Driver's Body Found After a Week in Jamui's Mahna Village
A shocking incident came to light on Tuesday in Mahna village, under the Lachhuar police station area of Jamui district. The body of 45-year-old e-rickshaw driver Shalindra Singh was found in his house, located about 300 feet from the village, more than a week after his death. Villagers became aware of the tragedy due to a strong foul smell emanating from the house, causing a stir in the area.
Shalindra Singh, son of Banaras Singh, was identified as the deceased. He reportedly earned his living by driving an e-rickshaw and lived alone in his house, which was somewhat isolated from the main village. His wife and two daughters have been living with her parents for several years.
According to Gautam Singh, the deceased's nephew, he had met Shalindra about 15-20 days prior, but there had been no significant contact since. Due to the house's isolated location, visits from others were infrequent. On Tuesday, when a strong odor became noticeable, villagers suspected something was wrong. Upon reaching the house, they found the outer gate closed but the inner gate open, with a fan still running inside. Shalindra Singh's body was discovered within.
The villagers immediately informed the police. The Lachhuar SHO stated that the cause of death is currently unknown. The police sent the body to Sadar Hospital Jamui for post-mortem, which was conducted late at night by Dr. Naveen Chandra Gupta. Authorities expect the actual cause of death to be revealed only after the post-mortem report is received. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the deceased did not interact much with his neighbors, and some drug-related items, including a chillum, were recovered from the house. Family members also confirmed his reclusive nature.
