Former MLA Shankar Singh from Rupauli (Purnia) has extended his congratulations to Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor on his victory in the Bankipur assembly election. Singh described this win as a clear indication of change in Bihar. In his statement, Shankar Singh emphasized that this victory is not merely Prashant Kishor's personal achievement, but rather a reflection of the Bihari public's desire for change.

The former MLA expressed hope that under Prashant Kishor's leadership, the overall development of the Bankipur region will gain new direction, leading to permanent solutions for the pressing issues faced by youth, farmers, and the general public. He urged Kishor to prioritize fundamental problems such as roads, healthcare, education, and employment, along with giving voice to the common people. Singh believes that public service is paramount and that in a democracy, the people's verdict is supreme.

Shankar Singh shared a close relationship with the late senior politician Ram Vilas Paswan. He contested the assembly elections twice on a Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) ticket, first winning from Rupauli in 2005. Later, he strengthened his political base as an independent candidate, securing another victory in the 2024 by-election. A native of Barhara Kothi in Purnia district, Shankar Singh remains active in Rupauli politics. His wife, Pratima Kumari, has also served twice as a Zila Parishad member and chairperson in Purnia, and as a ward councilor in the Purnia Municipal Corporation.
