Fatehpur village, under Malhari Panchayat in Imamganj block of Gaya district, has been without electricity for the past week. The village's transformer burnt out approximately a week ago, plunging the entire area into darkness. Villagers allege that despite repeated notifications to the electricity department, no concrete steps have been taken to replace the transformer or restore power supply.

The prolonged power outage has led to severe hardships for the residents. The water crisis has become particularly acute, forcing people to fetch water from nearly 500 meters away. Children's education is significantly impacted, and they face difficulties preparing for school. Moreover, villagers are compelled to travel to other villages or towns to charge their mobile phones.

Residents claim that the problem is more severe in their Mahadalit-majority hamlet, and they feel the department is not taking their issues seriously. Villagers like Jasim Alam, Vijay Chaudhary, Dilip Bharti, Rambriksh Das, and Karu Das have warned that if a new transformer is not installed and power supply restored soon, they will be forced to take to the streets in protest. Imamganj Junior Engineer (JE) Sovinder stated that he has received information about the burnt transformer and will report it. Villagers are demanding an immediate resolution from the electricity department.
