Patna: The rising water level of the Ganga river has exacerbated the difficulties faced by residents of the Diara region under Danapur sub-division in Patna district. Continuous increase in Ganga's water has led to flooding in low-lying areas of 6 panchayats in Danapur and 5 in Maner. Roads in several villages are submerged, disrupting connectivity between villagers and the district headquarters.

Floodwaters have entered various areas of Maner Diara, including Chhihattar, Mahavir Tola, Islamganj, Ratan Tola, and Haldi Chhapra. The water has reached temples and government institutions, with a Yagya Shala near a temple completely submerged, and floodwaters entering the lower parts of the temple itself.

The daily lives of villagers have been severely affected. To buy essential goods, people are forced to wade through water to reach the city. In many places, people are using steamers and boats for transportation. Children and students are also facing increased difficulties as school routes are submerged.

Cattle farmers are facing a severe fodder crisis. Fields and areas providing fodder for animals are submerged, destroying green fodder. Villagers are struggling to cut and collect fodder by wading through water. Jhardo Devi and Urmila Devi from Islamganj have appealed to the administration to arrange for boats, health facilities, and adequate fodder for their animals.

Several areas in Danapur Diara, including Panapur, Manas, Purani Panapur, Hetanpur, and Patlapur, are also affected by the floods. Here too, fields and fodder-providing areas are waterlogged. Teachers commuting to schools in the Diara region are facing problems due to submerged roads, raising concerns about children's education.

Villagers are also worried about healthcare facilities. They state that transporting a sick person to the hospital during an emergency amidst the floods would be a major challenge. Residents have demanded the availability of medical teams, medicines, and essential health facilities in the affected areas.

Bihar government minister and Danapur MLA Ramkripal Yadav also inspected the flood-affected areas. He acknowledged the ingress of water into several regions due to the rising Ganga water level and assured flood-affected people of all possible help from the government and local administration. Villagers are now awaiting relief and rescue materials from the administration.
