A serious accident occurred in Rohua village, Mushahari block, Muzaffarpur, when a gas pipeline burst during drain excavation. Seven female students fainted as a result of the incident, and five of them were referred to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in critical condition. The incident created a chaotic atmosphere in the area.

According to reports, the accident took place during the ongoing work of digging a drain in Rohua village. It is believed that the laborers involved in the excavation were unaware of the underground gas pipeline, leading to its accidental damage and subsequent gas leakage. The gas leak affected female students who were in the vicinity, possibly returning from school or simply nearby, causing them to faint.

Local residents immediately initiated rescue efforts and transported the unconscious students to a nearby health center. However, due to the critical condition of five out of the seven students, they were promptly referred to SKMCH for advanced medical treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, local administration and gas company officials rushed to the scene. Efforts are currently underway to stop the gas leakage and normalize the situation.

This incident highlights the critical importance of adhering to safety standards and having proper information about underground utilities during construction work in both urban and rural areas. Authorities must ensure that proper surveys and safety protocols are followed to prevent similar accidents in the future. The gas company has also launched an investigation into the cause of the pipeline damage and whether all safety measures were in place.
