In Bihar's Gaya district, Manju Kumari, who was swept away by the strong currents of the Chaiya River in Mohanpur block, could not be traced by Wednesday evening. Her family is in deep shock and distress following the incident. The police administration and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams conducted an extensive search operation in the river throughout Wednesday but found no success. A fresh and comprehensive search operation is scheduled to resume on Thursday.

According to information received, Manju Kumari, a resident of Purn Dharhara, was crossing the Chaiya River with five of her friends to reach Dangra School. Midway across the river, the water current suddenly intensified, causing all the girls to start drowning. Witnessing the girls in distress, local residents immediately jumped into the river and successfully rescued several girls, including Reema Kumari, Neetu Kumari, and Vibha Kumari. However, due to the strong current, Manju Kumari could not be saved and was swept away.

Local residents made considerable efforts to find Manju, but no trace of her was found. Upon receiving news of the incident, a large number of police and administrative officials arrived at the scene and informed the SDRF for necessary action. The SDRF team commenced a search operation in the river late in the evening, but it had to be suspended due to darkness.

Local residents speculate that sand had been extensively excavated from a deep spot in the river, and Manju might have been carried into that deep pit by the strong current and possibly submerged there. Currently, the SDRF team will resume its search operation on Thursday to locate Manju.
