In a shocking incident in Gaya district, one thief died and another was critically injured while attempting to steal an electricity transformer late at night. The incident occurred in Deoria village, under the Kothi police station jurisdiction.

According to police, Mohammad Ghulam Ahmed Raja, a resident of Badi Khap village, Imamganj police station, and Maqsood Khan, from Bali Bathan village, Imamganj block, were trying to steal an 11000 KV transformer in Deoria village. During their attempt, they came into contact with live wires. Ghulam Ahmed Raja died on the spot due to electrocution, while Maqsood Khan sustained severe injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at Magadh Medical College Hospital.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kothi Station House Officer, along with his team, rushed to the scene. The injured Maqsood Khan was immediately admitted to Magadh Medical College Hospital. The body of the deceased, Ghulam Ahmed Raja, was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination at the same hospital. Imamganj SDPO Dheeraj Kumar stated that preliminary investigations suggest the two individuals were attempting to steal the transformer when the accident occurred. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and taking further necessary action. This incident highlights the unusual and risky nature of theft attempts reported in Bihar, where similar audacious thefts have been reported in the past, including attempts to steal bridges and other large items.
