A 40-year-old woman, Nidhi Raj, died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday in Ramnagar village, Gayghat police station area, Muzaffarpur district. Upon receiving information, the police promptly took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination to SKMCH. The deceased has been identified as the wife of Mukesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Ramnagar village. She is survived by a 14-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son.

According to family members, Nidhi Raj's health suddenly deteriorated late Tuesday night. She was admitted to a private hospital in the city for treatment, where she passed away during the course of treatment. It is reported that the woman may have consumed some poisonous substance, though this is yet to be confirmed.

After Nidhi Raj's death, family members were preparing for her last rites when her brother informed the police about the incident. The Gayghat police immediately reached the spot and halted the funeral proceedings. Station House Officer Jaiprakash Gupta stated that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team conducted a thorough investigation at the scene before the body was sent for post-mortem.

In this case, the deceased's husband, Mukesh Kumar, has leveled serious allegations against his nephew, accusing him of harassing his wife. The police are investigating all angles diligently.
