The position of In-Charge Medical Officer at Ghosi Referral Hospital in Jehanabad district has been vacant for over two months, severely impacting the administrative and healthcare services. Due to this vacancy, health workers are not receiving their salaries on time, and several development projects at the hospital have stalled.

The absence of an In-Charge Medical Officer has also affected the financial benefits provided by the government to women who deliver babies under various schemes, causing delays in payments to beneficiaries. Out of 13 sanctioned posts for doctors, the hospital currently operates with only one MBBS doctor and three AYUSH doctors, making it difficult to provide adequate healthcare facilities to patients.

In addition to the referral hospital, the campus, which is one of the largest in the Ghosi assembly constituency, also houses a Paramedical College and a Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC). The hospital has two clerks, three GNM nurses, and one ANM. While ambulance and ECG facilities are available, the lack of crucial diagnostic services like X-ray forces patients to seek private facilities or other hospitals, leading to financial strain and wasted time.

Local residents have expressed deep concern over the situation. They point out that while the government is continuously investing in strengthening healthcare, the absence of basic facilities at an important hospital like Ghosi is alarming. They have demanded the appointment of sufficient doctors and the provision of essential diagnostic services.

According to hospital sources, several letters have been sent to the Civil Surgeon's office regarding the appointment of the In-Charge Medical Officer cum Disbursing Officer, but no appointment has been made yet. Local residents have urged senior officials of the health department and the District Magistrate to expedite the appointment of an In-Charge Medical Officer at Ghosi Referral Hospital, fill vacant posts for doctors and health workers, and provide essential diagnostic facilities including X-ray.
