An astonishing case of liquor smuggling has come to light in Kuchaikot, Gopalganj, where smugglers devised innovative methods to transport alcohol. The Excise Department apprehended a motorcyclist and recovered a total of 127 tetra packs of liquor from secret compartments built into a domestic gas cylinder and the motorcycle itself.

According to Excise Superintendent Amritesh Kumar, on Sunday, during a vehicle inspection drive near Kurm Tola on Jalalpur Road, the activities of a motorcyclist carrying a gas cylinder appeared suspicious. Although the cylinder looked normal from the outside, a thorough search by the team revealed a hidden compartment inside, containing 127 tetra packs of liquor.

The investigation further revealed that the accused had not only created a secret compartment in the cylinder but also in his motorcycle. The liquor was planned to be transported disguised as fruit juice packets to evade detection during routine vehicle checks. However, due to the vigilance of the Excise Department team, the entire operation was exposed.

The Excise Department seized the liquor and the motorcycle, and arrested the accused. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against him after interrogation, and he was presented in court. The department is now working to ascertain the origin of the liquor and its intended destination. The police and Excise Department are also gathering information about other individuals involved in this smuggling network to dismantle the entire racket.
