Thirty cadets from Bharat Scout and Guide in Gopalganj departed for Patna on Thursday to undergo special training to become 'Disaster Friends'. This training, organized under the directives of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, aims to equip young individuals with the skills necessary for relief and rescue operations during disasters. This marks the fifth phase of cadet selection from the district, with 15 cadets leaving from Gopalganj Railway Station and the remaining 15 from Dighwa Dubauli Station.
During the training, these cadets will learn how to handle various natural calamities, including floods and earthquakes. They will also be taught how to provide immediate assistance to those in need and raise awareness among local communities about disaster preparedness. Given Bihar's susceptibility to natural disasters, the role of these trained youths becomes crucial.
Their primary responsibilities will include providing initial relief during disasters, assisting affected individuals, and supporting rescue efforts. The training endeavors to empower cadets to work effectively alongside administration and relief teams when required.
District Organization Commissioner Ravi Kumar Singh flagged off the cadets' team, stating that Scout and Guide cadets have previously demonstrated courage, discipline, and a spirit of service during various disasters and emergencies. He expressed confidence that the 'Yuva Aapda Mitra' training would further enhance their capabilities and efficiency. These trained youths will be instrumental in raising awareness at the rural level and initiating immediate relief and rescue operations during times of disaster.
